Springtime fun...

This past weekend, Daddy took Fender to Denton for the Jazz Festival. They met up with Aunt LaLa and made a day of all the activities including bounce houses, slides, playgrounds, face painting, fried oreos and more.

Fender playing hide and go seek at a friend's birthday party. He likes singing the "Happy Birthday" song!

Fender spent one morning visiting his friend Corley Ann (she's one year younger).

More playground playtime this week.

Easter prelude...

Things have been fun and exciting with holidays and family all around. Fen had a preliminary Easter egg hunt at daycare Thursday before Easter. Friday we boiled more eggs and Fen colored most of them all by himself. What a difference a year makes. He even used the scooper properly, but the hands seemed just as helpful most of the time too. On Saturday I prepared my (now traditional) Greek Tsoureki bread from scratch. Oh boy! And made four smaller loaves instead of two large ones. It's a sweet bread and quite tasty. :) The ladies at work are enjoying a bit each day.

My new haircut...(the shortest I've ever had it, as far as I recall)

I hope to post Easter pics soon and maybe a couple of videos as well.

2 1/2 years old...

At two and a half years old, Fender now stands at 37 inches tall and weighs 34 lbs. He prefers to dress himself most of the time. He loves to sing and will do so while strumming guitars or playing piano. His favorite movie at the moment is CARS and he still watches his favorite shows on the Noggin channel. Not much artwork going on these days, but reading books is starting to pick back up. I expect anything with water outside will be his favorite thing in the next couple of months when the weather warms up.

Sorry for the delay in not posting much lately but things have been pretty busy around here, including the fact that I started a full-time job working at the Environmental Co-op as their Program Manager. Basically I'm in charge of educating the public on recycling and environmental issues. In addition I manage the grants we are working under and will write new grants to maintain our funding in June/July.

Okay...so on with Fender...
In March, Gran and I took Fender to our first Roller Derby event. It was fun, but took a bit longer that particular evening due to the fact that Clinton and Stacey from TLC's "What Not to Wear" showed up for one of the girls. So that was interesting, but it took an extra hour for them to do a little bit of filming before the derby continued. I think the girl's name was Lucy and the show should air in June. Fender had a blast saying "And that's What Not to Wear!" all night long!
(Fender and my good friend Rachael.)

Yesterday was a beautiful day (apart from some wind) and the bluebonnets are in full bloom around here so I decided to take Fen out to play in them.

Of course, he also enjoyed throwing a couple of bluebonnets into the puddle of water and watching the wind sweep it down the road.

On our way back home, we stopped to see some cows who were grazing close to the access road. Fender kept saying "Come here, boy." But none of them ever did. :)

Fender pointed out all the litter on the side of the road by the cows and wanted desperately to clean it up...that's my boy...he insisted that we "put on our glove and pick it up." So that's what we did. :)
