My first mother's day...

I had a wonderful mother's day morning getting to spend a little time with my mom, step-mom, sister, grandmother, dad, husband and son. Had breakfast at IHOP with mom, sis, yiayia, Drew, and Fen. Then everyone went their seperate ways by 1:00PM and the rest of the day was just Fender and me. We made the most the lovely day and enjoyed some time in the yard. I love being mom to such an easy going boy. I think he's perfect! :)

oh...and no that isn't a "leftover Easter Egg" for anyone wondering. That is a musician's percussion instrument, which is in the shape of an egg. It was a gift from his Auntie L a couple of months ago and is still his favorite toy today.

Topless and tappas...

Posts are sporadic lately because I was sick last week, and then we had my uncle's funeral on Saturday, Mother's Day on Sunday, and Drew's Exam yesterday. So things have been busy and hectic lately. That said, Fender just keeps on going and going...much like the energizer bunny. He rarely naps, but isn't fussy either, so I guess the lack of sleep suits him just fine. He typically sleeps from 9PM to 7AM now, but most nights wakes about 4AM and occasionally can't get back to sleep on his own so I hold him about 10 minutes, and he is back out until 7AM. He is completely weened now and typically eats baby cereal or a jar of fruits or veggies first thing in the morning, then about an hour later has about 8oz formula before we go to daycare. He has another jar of food around Noon and either 4oz juice (if at daycare) or 8oz formula around 2PM. Formula again around 5PM, jar of food about 7PM, and 8oz formula before bed about 8:45PM.

So on to this week's events...after the graveside service for my Uncle Chris, we all met up for a reception/party in his honor (this is a wake type of things, but our Greek version) at which, my grandmother (Fen's Grt Grandmother) decided Fender was too hot and needed his shirt off, this was just after she asked for a cup so she could give him a sip of coca cola! Thankfully I was there and able to secure a cup and "water" for him instead of coke. But there was nothing I could do to save the shirt! Sorry Fender...at least no one said any "Casper" jokes to me directly. :/

Later that evening, my mom, sister, Fender and I drove to Dallas to see Drew, who had gone into work to study, and then we had Tappas for dinner. After all the excitement from the day, Fen took a nap. And Auntie L captured one of her favorite "funny" photos of Fen. :)

Rainy days and Mondays...

I was sick this past weekend, and went to doctor on Monday, but was getting over whatever gastro-intestinal flare up had gone on...only to come down with a really bad virus that night, so I've been pretty sick the past few days. I'm on the mend, but still not 100%. We've had rain here the past couple of nights as well and expect more tonight and forecast shows the same for the next 3-4 days. I love rain, and thunderstorms, but we're dog-sitting a sweet blue healer/colie mix who is very afriad of lightning so it has been tough for her the past few nights and looks like it will be more of the same tonight. Poor dear.

Well, while I've had to blues...the village (my wonderful family) has been tending to Fender's every need. You can observe for yourself in these recent photos... videos and more pics to come.

and of course, the dog helps with cleaning...

Videos

Yea...I think these work!! I think I got them to post on the page!!! I hope this works. Three videos of fun...

Fender laughing (about 2 1/2 months).

About 4 months old.

Fender at the Jazz Festival this past weekend (6 3/4 months old).

More Jazzz...

As I mentioned before, this weekend Fender really became mobile. He isn't crawling forward, but he crawls backward, turns on his hands and knees, rolls, whatever he needs to do to get where he wants to go. It is amazing and fun to watch. He was up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth and you can see he is ready to crawl. He took a quick nap (about 15 minutes) and was back up ready to play again. :)

Jazz festival...

We had a blast at the Jazz festival in Denton this weekend with "Auntie L." See for yourself...

Superboy...

Ok...Fender was having a good time in his new superman pj's. Had to share. Also...I am desperately trying to figure out how to upload my videos to this blog. I know it can be done, but I haven't figured it out yet. Fender is getting mobile so I know you all will want to see more of him in "action." I will keep trying until I figure it out. In the meantime...here are pictures...and more pictures of us at the Jazz festival this weekend coming up next.

Earth Day...

A couple of misc photos of our boy. The first, an outdoor picture in celebration of Earth Day, which was yesterday. A head shot, just because we have one. And with all the action photos we've had lately, Fender still finds time to rest on occasion.

Caught in the act...

We've finally managed to catch a couple of smiles in pictures. I caught Fender grabbing the rail to his crib trying to pull himself up. And clearly, our house isn't baby proofed yet. As always, he contiues to be too cute for words (from his mommy's perspective). :) You can see for yourselves...

Fender posts...

Well, oviously, Fender has taken an active interest in his own blog now. That last post was all him. We had a great earth day weekend. Fender's Grandmother came to town for a few days and we had tons of fun! Here are some pics. Not any from outside, though we did spend some time outdoors, which our boy seems to enjoy very much. Yea! He is switching over to formula now and doing great. oops... well, i'm not going to get to finish this post right now. fender wants to play too much. all play and no work, that is his motto. pics to come later...hopefully soon. hope you all have a great week! Like Fender, I hope we can all work more play into our schedules. Life goes by in a flash.

Pastel craze...

Easter day has come and gone but the Easter season remains. What a terrific day we had yesterday. Fender was up bright and early...no shocker there since he still barely ever sleeps (day or night). We were all up, dressed, and at church by 10:30, just before the service began. :) Fender barely acknowledged his first Easter Egg Hunt, probably because he was fighting sleep, having been up since dawn and no nap even through church. After the Hunt, those of us, who are not Fender, enjoyed a fantastic Easter lunch with family and friends at Norie's. Fender enjoyed his milk later on. We had a wonderfully lazy afternoon playing and napping at "Papa and Grandma's" house. And when we finally got back home, we played a bit, then had sweet potatoes and cereal for dinner, another "big boy bath", which are an everyday occurrence now, and then it was a bit more milk to drink and off to bed. After he finally settled down to sleep about 10PM, he slept all the way through until 7:30AM this morning. He seems to like sleeping on his stomach now and it doesn't seem to pose much threat since he lifts his head and turns it whenever he likes. I still get nervous about it, but he just isn't sleeping on his side and back anymore.

So without further ado...more Fender pictures...

Hippity Hoppity Happy Easter Season...

Fender met the Easter Bunny...
