Dallas Zoo...

Despite the heat driving most of the animals into hiding, we managed a successful weekend outing to the Dallas Zoo. Even the birds in the children's petting zoo weren't coming down to play, but we did find a playful monkey, couple of giraffes, one gorilla, and a bunch of slithering snakes. Fender's favorite seemed to be the 18-20 yr old tortoise, which he and Daddy named Jujubee. Jujubee was having a nice nap, then woke up, yawned, and stretched his neck up high before slowly bee-lining his way to fresh food and water.

In the end we took advantage of the monorail and saw many of the hoofed animals who were hiding out in the shade at the back of their enclosures, like gazelle, antelope, zebras, crocodiles and more. The zoo ticket was $10 for adults and Fen was free (under 3). The price of a bottle of water or soda...$2.50. Yikes! Thankfully there are plenty of water fountains around for a quick drink or bottle refill whenever you need.

Here is Fender eagerly waiting for Momma and Daddy to be ready so we could head to the zoo.

Finn would be so jealous. He has been asking to go to the zoo for weeks! Glad you were able to make the best of it despite the heat.
