Miniature horses...

Here are a couple of misc pictures from the past week. And an eye update...

Fender is a little clone of his Daddy. I took three pictures and they had a different expression each time, but the exact same as each other. Amazing.

Fender LOVES his new Elmo blanket! It is way too big for his crib, but it is in there anyway.

And Memaw and Papa's new neighbors have miniature horses that Fender has already bonded with.

A rare photo and petting opportunity with Gracie Dog who decided to jump up and "share" Papa while Fender ate his cookie. She typically prefers Fender in a "hands off" and "keep away" type setting.

Okay...and now for an eye update...saw the doc today and condition has worsened a good deal inside my eye. He can no longer see through all the inflamation, debris and such to the back of my eye where the problems lie. So he's scheduled me for surgery on Monday morning for a vitrectomy (remove the vitrous...or fluid filled body behind my eye),will do a biopsy on my toxo scar, and make a direct antibiotic injection into the scar to kill off the suspected active parasite(s). Oh...and I get to wean off my steroids. Yea!

I also went and got a second opinion today with the impending surgery now scheduled...and this doctor was amazing! He was so thorough with his questions collecting background history and also with the visual exam. He also said before examining the eye, that he doesn't recommend a vitrectomy lightly, and that it would be rare for a toxo scar to be active...then he took a glance at my eye and immediately confirmed the uveitis and the terrible shape my vitreous was in. He had trouble seeing to the back of my eye also, but was at it so long he finally saw the toxo scar too. In the end, he said absolutely I need the surgery and the biopsy is the only way to tell if the toxo scar is active. And when I told him whom I was seeing, he said I am in the right place to have this done. He spent an hour with me, which is about twice as much time as I've spent with my other doctor after 3 visits in 2 1/2 months. Mostly I think he was having fun seeing a rare eye condition.

But the most important thing to take away from both my doctor visits today is...neither of them had any reservations at all about me going skydiving tomorrow!!! Yippee! My first doctor almost seemed envious I was going and the second one said there was no worry at all..."go and enjoy your birthday gift." Even though I had researched it slightly and found no correlation with skydiving and ocular pressure changes...it is still a shock to me that neither of them warned me against it. Super cool. I am soooooo psyched.
